Containers must survive a thermal shock with a 90F (50C) differential between the hot and cold water baths.; L2 T2 f& E3 r) R0 D% u% {* ?
Containers exposed to hot water bath 160F (71C) for 5 minutes, 15 second transfer time and then 30 seconds in cool water bath 70F (21C).: G5 P+ T) G/ O! U; t0 l+ u
Fill, or partially ll, the basket, with 10 empty bottles, and when the temperatures of the baths are within 1.1C (2F) of those specied immerse the basket in the hot bath in such a manner that the bottles become completely lled with hot water, allow to soak for 5 min, transfer to the cold bath, and immerse for 30 s, and then remove from the cold bath. Control the 5-min immersion in the hot bath within 10 s, and the time of transfer from the hot to the cold bath shall be 15s0 F8 x9 [6 `+ S, X
During the test, protect the apparatus from drafts in a sheltered area. Observe the number of containers failing in the test by individual inspection of each. L' B) p) w! k9 O3 X T8 }2 _
The test is compliant if no glass is cracked.
